Player Guide

This guide covers everything a player needs to know about using the ars_cardealer dealership. Learn how to browse vehicles, purchase with cash or financing, take test drives, trade in your old car, sell vehicles to the dealer, and transfer ownership to other players.

1. Browsing Vehicles

Section titled “1. Browsing Vehicles”

The dealership catalog has no command or keybind — you access it by targeting the salesman ped in-game:

  1. Walk up to a dealership.
  2. Aim at the salesman ped (you’ll see a target prompt).
  3. Select Browse Vehicles.

The browse UI shows all vehicles available at that dealership, organized by category. You can search by name, sort by price, and preview each model in a 3D showroom with full colour and livery customization.

Note: If the dealership is in view-only mode, you can browse but must ask a staff member to complete the purchase.

2. Purchasing a Vehicle

Once you’ve found a vehicle, click Buy to purchase it with cash or bank funds.

Purchase Flow

Section titled “Purchase Flow”
  1. Select a payment method (cash or bank).
  2. Choose your vehicle colours (primary, secondary, pearlescent, extras, livery).
  3. If a coupon code is available, enter it in the purchase modal to apply a discount.
  4. Sign the purchase contract — type your full name to confirm.

The vehicle is delivered to your garage immediately and you receive a notification with the plate.

Purchase Restrictions

  • Some dealerships only allow specific jobs to browse or purchase.
  • Some vehicles may only be purchased with a specific currency (set per-shop).
  • If the vehicle is out of stock, you’ll receive a “Sold out” notification.

3. Financing

Section titled “3. Financing”

If the dealership supports financing and the vehicle meets the minimum price threshold, you can pay in installments:

  1. In the purchase modal, select Finance.
  2. Choose a payment plan (12, 24, 36, or 48 installments by default).
  3. Pay the down payment (default 10%).
  4. Sign the contract.

How Payments Work

  • Payments count down based on play-time hours (not real wall-clock time). You are only charged while online.
  • After each intervalHours of play-time, one installment is auto-charged from your bank account.
  • After 3 consecutive missed auto-charges (insufficient bank funds), your loan enters the grace period.

Delinquency and Repossession

Recovering an Impounded Vehicle

Open the Financing panel and pay the outstanding balance + repo fee to recover your vehicle. See Managing Your Finances.

4. Test Drives

Test drives let you take a vehicle for a spin before buying. The dealership must have test drives enabled.

Self Test Drive

Section titled “Self Test Drive”
  1. In the browse UI, find a vehicle and select Test drive.
  2. The vehicle spawns with an ephemeral plate (not saved to your garage).
  3. You can drive for the configured duration (default 60 seconds) or until you exit the vehicle (plus a short grace period).
  4. Stay within the max distance from the dealership.

If a deposit is configured, it’s charged up front and refunded when you return the vehicle cleanly. Forfeiting due to abuse (driving too far, destroying the vehicle) may result in deposit loss.

Assisted Test Drive

A salesperson can start a test drive for you from the staff panel:

  1. A nearby rep selects you as the customer.
  2. A vehicle spawns for you to test drive.
  3. The rep can end the drive remotely.

Tip: You must be near the dealership for assisted test drives. The salesperson also must be present.

5. Trade-Ins

When purchasing a vehicle, you can trade in an owned vehicle for credit:

  1. In the purchase modal, open the Trade-in section.
  2. Enter the plate of a vehicle you own, or let the system auto-detect a nearby one.
  3. Click Get Quote — the server validates ownership and calculates the trade-in value.
  4. The credit is applied to your purchase price.

Trade-in value is based on the vehicle’s catalog price at a base percentage, with depreciation for wear and tear. Vehicles with active loans cannot be traded in — pay off the remaining balance first via /myfinance.

6. Selling to the Dealer

You can sell your owned vehicle directly to a dealership for an instant bank payout:

  1. Drive your owned vehicle onto the dealership’s sell zone.
  2. Target the Sell Vehicle point — the sell UI opens with your vehicle loaded.
  3. Review the offer — it shows your vehicle’s condition and the payout amount.
  4. Confirm to sell. The vehicle transfers to the dealer’s used inventory and the payout is sent to your bank.

Note: You cannot sell a vehicle with an active loan. The dealer payout comes from the shop balance — if the shop has insufficient funds, the offer may not be available.

7. Transferring a Vehicle

Hand ownership of an owned vehicle to a nearby player:

  1. Run /transfervehicle while sitting in or near the vehicle you want to transfer — the plate field auto-fills if you’re in the driver’s seat.
  2. Enter the recipient’s server ID and confirm the vehicle’s plate.
  3. The recipient receives a popup to accept or decline.
  4. Upon acceptance, ownership transfers instantly.

8. Managing Your Finances

Run /myfinance at any time to open your personal financing panel:

Paying Off Early

Section titled “Paying Off Early”

You can pay any outstanding installment at any time to cure a delinquent loan or pay off a vehicle entirely. Use the Pay in full button on an active loan.

Recovering Impounded Vehicles

Section titled “Recovering Impounded Vehicles”

From the Impounded section, click Recover next to a vehicle. You’ll pay the outstanding principal plus the repo fee, and the vehicle is returned to your garage.
