Officer Guide
This guide covers the day-to-day workflows for police officers using ars_police. It is written for players who have a police or sheriff job on the server.

1. Getting Started
Section titled “1. Getting Started”Going On Duty
Section titled “Going On Duty”Approach the clock-in point at your station and interact with the prompt or use the target. You will receive an on-duty notification.
Tip: Some servers require you to be on duty to access the police menu. Check with your server admin.
Changing Clothes
Section titled “Changing Clothes”Visit the locker room at your station to change into your uniform. Uniform options are based on your job grade.
Accessing the Armory
Section titled “Accessing the Armory”Talk to the armory NPC or interact with the armory point to browse available weapons and equipment. Items are priced and restricted by grade.
2. Job Menu
Section titled “2. Job Menu”Press F6 (or your configured keybind) to open the police job menu. The menu provides quick access to all police functions.
Menu Options

3. Handcuffing and Escorting
Section titled “3. Handcuffing and Escorting”Handcuffing
Section titled “Handcuffing”- Approach a suspect
- Use the
/cuffcommand or select Handcuff from the job menu - The suspect will be restrained with handcuffs (requires
handcuffsitem) - Use
/hardcufffor a stronger restraint
Note: Suspects can attempt to escape cuffs via a skill-check. Zipties are also available as an alternative restraint.
Escorting
Section titled “Escorting”- Cuff the suspect first
- Use
/escortor select Escort from the job menu - Walk while near the suspect to lead them
- Use the option to place them in or remove them from a vehicle
Carrying
Section titled “Carrying”Use /carry or /kidnap to pick up an uncuffed player and carry them.
4. Evidence Collection
Section titled “4. Evidence Collection”GSR Testing
Section titled “GSR Testing”- Approach a suspect
- Use the
/gsrcommand - The test will show POSITIVE or NEGATIVE for gunshot residue
- Players can wash GSR off by standing in water
Collecting Evidence
Section titled “Collecting Evidence”- Look for evidence markers at crime scenes (casings, blood, projectiles)
- Press G near a marker to pick it up
- Use the
/evidencemenu to view collected evidence details
Evidence Types

Clearing Evidence
Section titled “Clearing Evidence”Use /clearcasings or /clearblood as an on-duty officer to clean up crime scene evidence.
5. Vehicle Operations
Section titled “5. Vehicle Operations”Spawning Vehicles
Section titled “Spawning Vehicles”- Go to the garage zone at your station
- Interact with the garage prompt
- Select a vehicle based on your grade
- The vehicle spawns at a designated spawn point
Vehicle Extras and Liveries
Section titled “Vehicle Extras and Liveries”After spawning a vehicle, approach the extras menu marker to:
- Toggle vehicle extras (lights, equipment)
- Select a livery (paint scheme)
Impounding
Section titled “Impounding”- Approach a vehicle
- Use the Vehicle Interactions option from the job menu
- Select Impound to send the vehicle to the depot with a fee
Seizing
Section titled “Seizing”Use the Seize option to permanently hold a vehicle (state = 2 in database).
Lockpicking
Section titled “Lockpicking”Use the Lockpick option to force open a locked vehicle.
6. Jailing Suspects
Section titled “6. Jailing Suspects”Using the Jail Menu
Section titled “Using the Jail Menu”- Approach a suspect
- Use
/jailor open the jail dialog from the job menu - Enter the sentence time in months
- The suspect is teleported to prison

Community Service
Section titled “Community Service”As an alternative to jail, officers can assign community service:
/comserv <id> <tasks>- Assign community service tasks/endcomserv <id>- End community service early
7. Player Interactions
Section titled “7. Player Interactions”Checking ID
Section titled “Checking ID”Use the ID Check option to view a player’s name, job, date of birth, and licenses.
Granting/Revoking Licenses
Section titled “Granting/Revoking Licenses”- Use the Licenses option from the job menu
- Select Grant or Revoke
- Choose the player and license type
Billing/Fining
Section titled “Billing/Fining”- Use the Fines option from the job menu
- Enter the amount (within configured limits)
- The fine is processed through the configured billing system
Ballistic Shield
Section titled “Ballistic Shield”- Equip the
shielditem from your inventory - Hold a pistol to activate the shield
- Sprint is disabled while the shield is active
- Switching weapons deactivates the shield
Spike Strips
Section titled “Spike Strips”- Access the spike strip option from the job menu
- Select deployment length
- Place the spike strip on the road
- Pick it up when no longer needed
8. Equipment and Gear
Section titled “8. Equipment and Gear”Deploy scene management props from the job menu:

Props auto-remove after the configured timeout (default: 10 minutes).
GPS Tracking
Section titled “GPS Tracking”Activate GPS tracking to show your location on the map for other officers. Use the GPS option in the job menu to toggle.
Security Cameras
Section titled “Security Cameras”Access security cameras from the job menu or at designated camera access points. Browse cameras by label and monitor locations across the city.
